FDeg Venue & Event Management - IOSH Managing Events Safely
BHS Accredited Senior Coach dedicated to helping people develop into confident, balanced and effective riders with an open ear for ‘listening’ to their horse.
I absolutely LOVE to help riders build an authentic partnership with their horse and I am truly passionate about ethical coaching, equine strength & conditioning and equine therapy.
My late mum was a dedicated rider, competitor and instructor herself and I was a keen Pony Club member and extremely fortunate to ride and compete an eclectic mix of ponies and horses over the years, all very capable in their own ways and all of them a lot of jolly good old fashioned fun!
Throughout my youngest years and teens, most weeks in my life were filled with training, outings and competitions. I look back on this era with fondness and gratitude, at the time I really didn’t know just how lucky I was!
From my early teens, I joined what was BSJA Seniors and successfully competed up to Newcomer level, I regularly competed in Open Hunter Trials & Team Chasing events.
My true love and appreciation for ‘Dressage’ developed a little later in life and since that was ignited, I have remained well and truly ‘hooked’, training to advanced level and enjoying some winnings and placings at a ‘fun’ level in National Championships.
In my 20’s and 30’s when the TTT (Training the Teachers of Tomorrow Trust) in Guilford was running, this truly unique centre became a regular base of training for me. Their classical teaching methods have had a significant influence on my style and ethos in training horses.
Now moving into my 40’s, I still continue to take my own further learning and development very seriously, with on-going coaching and attending regular CPD sessions, I will never stop learning and growing my own skill set and furthering my understanding and knowledge of our wonderful equine friends.
Jewels Stables Riding School
From 2007-2014 I was the proprietor of ‘Jewels Stables’, an ABRS approved riding school. We were all about ‘community’ and built an excellent reputation based on the highest standard of tuition, level of care and welfare for our horses.
I was supported by an outstanding group of dedicated volunteers and working pupils training ‘In-house’ for UKCC, ABRS, BHS riding, care and teaching exams.
We ran BHS/ABRS exams, regular Fun and Charity Shows, learning programs for Home Educated Children and other niche groups. Escorted hacking, Pub rides, residential/day Camps and holiday activities for all ages. Clinics, lectures, demos, workshops, yard outings, award ceremonies, you name it we did it and what fun was had!
In 2014 the Riding School closed and I now work on a freelance basis continuing to program and run events and training from the new ‘Jewels Stables’ site and other equestrian premises.
Jewels is one of the most intuitive riding coaches I've ever had. Jewels instinctively knows what works for each individual and she adapts her style of teaching to suit any level. I started with her over 3 years ago on my first horse, doing intro and jumping 50cm (that felt huge) and now she's coaching me into Novice and jumping 90-95. I love how much I learn about my riding and my horse during the sessions. As you can tell, I can highly recommend Jewels
